Botanical Description
Large tree, 15-25 meters, tree trunk erect, 60cm diameter and reddish bark. Leaves
persistent, alternate.
Properties
The medicinal properties of the bark are famous in all the western Amazon. Its use is very common serveral
ethnic groups. Generally considered antiinflamatory and antirheumatic. Also considered a tonic, aphrodisiac, and
useful in the treatement of colds. It is also used as a libido enhancer, and locals drink it mixed with alcohol as
a maceration.
